A day respite in our Animal Cabin is meant to provide a dog with a calming and fun experience. It is also meant to give you the same. The space has a desk, wifi, coffee and mini-refrigerator. Bathrooms are right around the corner from the cabin. The cabin also has a television for those just looking to chill.

We are so grateful you are here and hope your time is enjoyable. This space is cleaned and sanitized between dog visits.

EMERGENCIES: If you are in an emergency health situation, call 911. Our address is 614 Church Road, Fort Washington, PA 19034. If this is a situation involving your dog, call your shelter/rescue emergency number first and call Anne Anspach, 215-815-8154 or Jen Tucker, 215-266-2929.

LEAVING CABIN FOR ANY REASON: If you are leaving the cabin to use the bathroom or to run to your car, you must secure the dog in the crate provided or bring the dog with you. Shelter dogs are scared and their behavior can be unpredictable especially when left alone. We suggest bringing your phone with you when you leave cabin for any reason.

WALKING DOGS: While you are here 1) do not allow the dog to interact with any other people or animals. This is for the safety of the dog, your safety and that of St. Thomas’ preschool children who use this campus during the school day. 2) Always have the dog on a leash outside of the cabin. We recommend a two-lead system securing the dog around his/her collar as well as on the harness (or creating a harness with the one leash.) This prevents escapes. 3) Wear a yellow vest identifying yourself as a volunteer (located in kitchen cabinet.)

HUMAN TREATS: Coffee and fruit bars are for you to enjoy. There should be non-dairy creamer in the refrigerator. Coffee pods are compostable and can be put in the canister on the counter after use.

DOG TREATS: Dog treats are in the canister on the countertop. We have avoided any potential allergens for dogs.

HEAT/AC: Please keep heat at 65 degrees and air conditioning at 78 degrees.

BATH TOWELS: Clean towels are inside the cabinet. Dirty towels – and Kongs– can go in the bin next to the trashcan. They will be picked up and cleaned.

DOG TOYS: Soft toys and tennis balls should leave with your dog. (Our gift to the dog.) Used Kongs can go with the dirty laundry. These are cleaned and sanitized.

RESTROOMS: A men’s and women’s room is located on the side of the barn. Go left as you exit the cabin and you will see them. These are normally locked after 5 p.m. If you are staying later, please contact us.
