Providing Hope for Homeless Animals
Stay for the Day
The Animal Cabin sits on 42 beautiful acres on the campus of St. Thomas’ Episcopal Church in Fort Washington, PA. The space exists to provide a reprieve from the hectic life of a shelter or for foster dogs looking for a fun day outing. The Animal Cabin is not just a change of scenery for dogs but for people too. We provide a quiet space with a fenced-in yard, desk, wifi, coffee, mini refrigerator and television (set to Animal Channel of course:)
The Animal Cabin is open to all shelter or rescue volunteers 18 years and up. Reserving for the day is easy. We are onsite for almost all bookings if extra help is needed. Unfortunately, we do not allow people or animals to stay overnight. We employ a vigorous cleaning between each visit that follows shelter protocol.
You are welcome, and invited.
At St. Thomas’ Episcopal Church, we are committed to serving all creatures, great and small. Wherever you are on your faith journey, you are invited and welcome here.
Our goals are to use animal-centered programs to engage with the community; create a foster network for people to connect with animals; provide a respite day space for shelter animals, and a prayer space for people and animals - all while showcasing the church as a hub for compassion, community service, and support.
Through partnerships with animal shelters and rescues, we are committed to training more people to be fosters for short and long-term needs; providing a space (and transportation) for shelter dogs; and providing support to all those who work with animals.
